Nevertheless personally I do sense that poetry in different languages "feels" differently. But this is most likely down to reinvention of each poem via translation.

Wonder, because despite a myriad of fantasies and myths about national or racial specificity, the contexts are the same for most people in history when it comes to their own bodies, natural circumstances, biological demands etc. All actual differences are cultural constructions.

Often wonder if there was a time when daily experiences in different languages felt differently - due to being built up from different cultural artifacts. But I guess no one would be able to compare different phenomenologies.

Hi Kate, sorry to bother, but could I ask you to please share that magnificent electro-acoustic playlist you've shared sometime ago on that other website.

OSF

It's an interesting paper on constructive and artificial nature of human intelligence as contained in human environment, but you'd have to stomach 25 pages of the most idiotic IQ discourse known to man osf.io/preprints/ps...

Depressed to report that the only really original philosopher of ASD I know turned out to be an IQ peddling crank.

And it's true, if you think about the world in terms of pure growth, disaster capitalism is a far more straightforward path than anything else.

Realistically speaking, I think there are investment people out there reading up on the polycrisis just now and thinking "that's the way forward".

Nations, peoples, races, genders and religions are obviously fake but repression based on these invented categories is real and this violence is what makes these categories concrete.

I'm referring to the Project for a Scientific Psychology with the "hydraulic" model of mental activity built around accumulation and release of energy which attempted to ground psychoanalytic theories. Idk if the over-inflated metaphysics of Jung are necessary for that part of intellectual history.

True. But I guess I also mean that concepts like the unconscious, drives, ego, id, became implemented into folk psychology globally despite more than questionable grounding. Yet by virtue of being functional culturally, they became akin to real phenomena casually referenced in many fields.

Or perhaps the right word would be manifested rather than reified.

It's really very odd how a project that started out as a failed application of scientific metaphors of its time (see Freud's abandoned early scientific project) became reified over 100 years while its clinical practice of the "talking cure"has always been kind of unmoored from the theory.

A deeply annoying aspect of all artistic work is no matter how much stuff you make, write or perform, you're always flying blind. You never know what is for sure the right direction, nor do you know what people really think about your work. Total leap of faith stuff.

This is exactly the type of domestication that literary fiction is in the business of doing. And why it's conceit of finding existential truths without changing the point of view for inquiry can not be satisfied.

Bridle misinterpreting Beer's quote of "the purpose of the system is what it does" captures this well: where he says something like bad educational system has a purpose of being bad, the phrase implies the system has no telos, it simply functions to reproduce, by virtue of how it is arranged.

Visible in a variety of 2010s literary fiction works which make scientific or proto scientific stories look "beautiful" as in affective akin to poetry, domesticating the nature and giving daily aesthetic associations to abstractions.

Put differently one could say the idea of literary fiction reproducing a middle class worldview is grounded not only in Marxist critique, but also in its mode of conversion of scientific image discourse via metaphor into literary elements, rather than converting the manifest.

Reminded me why I fell into the philosophy hole - literary discursive mode rarely gets past the "I'm just asking questions" because it's ultimately tethered to folk psychology and..well.. Manifest image as the ultimate source of all existential wisdom.

Knausgaard essay surprisingly hits on many interesting points regarding enchantment of the world relation to aesthetics and cognitive development. Unsurprisingly doesn't expand on either, taking them as just good literary bits. And the Bridle interview and ending are really meh.

All in all, an internet classic. But it's really unique that it's so public, unlike say crash outs on some small forums or in MMO communities of the past decades.

as "one of the most active contributors to the project". This however is based on a year of submitting mostly junk code changes that led to a situation where now the project is trying to review and revert hundreds of his submissions.

Which makes programmers in the community very confused whether these aspects contribute to bad code submits or not. And finally, his claims to make this project great attracted a lot of attention since he poses

But now that person has forked the project under pretense of a) developing some massive features on his own thus b) liberating this old project from being abandoned (its stable now and its use is its compatibility with 40 year old apps), which he claims

rewrites of old (40 years in some cases) bits of code, breaking things for no reason, submitting without testing and eventually being ejected from the community, banned from submitting code..
