Ugh, wow, argh.
Are you getting to tour a little in Canada at least? (My 2026 publisher was like "Well, you can do a thing in Toronto!" which I guess is nice)

Yay, I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
11.12.2025 20:00 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Just recently I read @ada-hoffmann.bsky.social's The Outside and man, that book gave me chills for how good it was. I ripped through and am salivating for getting the next book from the library.
11.12.2025 19:57 β π 4 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0Of course it's appropriate. And then the famous author says "I'd love to sign your book, but I didn't bring a pen. Do you have a pen?" and then follows you through your house as you fannishly search for the book and a good pen and that's how he stumbles onto the crucial evidence...
11.12.2025 15:23 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0...Was it a bug, though
09.12.2025 23:28 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Also "Union & University" is a pun, because in addition to having the obvious meanings they are also the names of two actual streets that cross in a prominent place on campus!
The more you know.
I think I've spotted the first advance review of IGNORE ALL PREVIOUS INSTRUCTIONS in the wild (by @julietk.bsky.social):
"A thoughtful, engrossing SF novel about AI, creativity, censorship, and gender (with an autistic protagonist). Highly recommended."

Oh no, I hope it's cleared up soon, bug or otherwise!
09.12.2025 23:03 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I was very peripherally involved with these events (I cancelled my classes in support, I went to like 1 rally) but the real protagonists of this story are the graduate workers and the people who supported them directly on the picket line, day in and day out.
09.12.2025 22:46 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Oh hey, they made a movie about what happened at my day job this spring:

Yeah, I don't know about types, but I feel like they are suddenly happening to me more often than before and I should probably start to discuss that with a professional. π

09.12.2025 16:31 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I should try putting some begats in a novel. Sounds like fun :P

This one is from a newer WIP that I'm still drafting - don't want to give away too much, except that I'm hoping it'll be a new take on dark academia. And there's a guy in it who is *extremely* not over his ex. :P

This was on the underwater grimdark WIP playlist for a while!
I took it back out as the book evolved; there were a bunch of other songs that better captured the vibe of that part of the story. But the theme of impending psychological implosion is still, uh, relevant.

The book has a happy ending - but before we get there, we've got to unpack some sad teenage queer backstory. :)
One of my favorite things to do is make playlists of songs that remind me of each book project (plus some that I just noodled with and never wrote).
Which makes Spotify Wrapped into a fun map of where my creative energy went all year.
Reply with a number from 1 to 100 and I'll share a song :)
This is a key point for neurodiversity as well: regardless of the policies that states and health services adopt, more people are going to learn about autism, ADHD etc online, or dip their toes into communities, and realise they offer explanations for their lifelong differences and difficulties.

05.12.2025 23:09 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0That would start to put it into BDSM outfit territory, which, like... is valid! But is not what I was going for in that specific scene. π
05.12.2025 22:53 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Relatedly, shout-out to the random crime goon who is somehow wearing both a business suit and a leather jacket at the same time.

(Although... is the mass of fungal spores actually the antagonist? π€)

05.12.2025 21:25 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I sure am glad that I have a good proofreader for this book because apparently I have described a pair of characters' first kiss as "closed-mothed" π¦
