I always wonder about the people whose work was stolen or overlooked by the entrenched belief in colonizer superiority. We see evidence of it of course, but I can only imagine how much more there is lost to time.

The history of science kind of sucks to learn about in depth because so many early contributors to the collective knowledge were utter dirtbags in one way or another.

Part of that seems in line with the ability to engage in science and exploration, simply because they were from family money.
