BFF has jokingly noted that every other high speed line leisurely makes their way to high speed, while the Tokaido’s drivers remind him of the best of his fellow *subway* train operators. They will squeeze out any bit of speed possible, and you can feel the N700 fighting to push to keep going.

There’s something to be said about the world’s best railway and why it’s also the world’s best roller coaster.

IIRC, MTA Regional Bus is basically the arm that oversees the bus operations of MABSTOA, TA Surface, and MTA Bus, the three bus operating units of NYCTA.

My BFF had his suspicions when they floated the light rail option.

In theory, if they go light rail, it’s then classified as a surface transit which means they can use bus operators with a slight premium for articulated pay. IIRC, bus operators are slightly cheaper than train operators.

As everybody else said, play the field for now, sign up for the plans of the big players like Hilton, IHG, Accor, Hyatt, and Marriott, and hopefully one day you’ll be able to start milking the US credit card system.

You’re admittedly in a wonky spot where playing with hotel loyalty doesn’t make sense, and your income (and college expenses) is too low to qualify for playing with US cards for points earning opportunities.

FWIW, when it first started, as a personal anecdote, it did seem to lessen congestion on here on Long Island.

Traffic counts seem to have returned back to normal, but when it first started, it seemed that Manhattan bound drivers just didn't get on the road to make those trips to Manhattan.

STM covers the island, the others are either commuter bus service or local bus services for suburban municipalities.

IIRC, I think I left the line in there because I was trying to hash out trips between those going to core versus those trying to go to other places in a hypothetical world with an extension of the Archer Avenue Line.

If you work along Queens Blvd, an Archer Ave extension is very interesting...

This is one of those fun times where it would be nice if we could route the subway onto the Atlantic Branch like Japan (or hell, London) so riders have *both* options. Or we build an expensive better version of Silver Spring...

I've recently become somewhat queasy about the Archer Ave Extension/Atlantic Branch corridor because in theory, LIRR is faster to Manhattan, but Jamaica Center is closer to shopping district, and the transfer isn't perfect if you have to go from the LIRR down to the subway.

If you're coming from Mill Basin aiming for Williamsburg(or headed from Bushwick to Kings Plaza), it's a "crosstown" route. :-)

It's very much a "feels" route for me, but others would push for an extension of the Franklin Shuttle to the G instead or argue that IBX + SBS is good enough...

5) The LGA Terminal A location appears to be a little too far from actual Terminal A.

Of course, this assumes that real airlines will use it in the future...

4) FWIW, I've always viewed the Utica Ave Line as a crosstown line, so instead of the 5, I've viewed it as a spur off the L, but something, something, capacity.

A few quick hits:
1) I'm amazed you're leaving CBX for the last decade.
2) BFF (and his LI coworkers) would like a transfer from the E from the Babylon Line without having to go to Jamaica.
3) My idea for the LIE line opted for Maspeth and aimed for a 23rd Street Line or Houston Street...
