Major city may have to evacuate as water supplies run low Tehran is not alone. Cape Town in South Africa narrowly avoided taps running dry eight years ago. Even London, known for its rain, is at risk.

#Water shortages could lead to evacuation of major cities in Tehran. But this is likely to be a global issue in the future. news.sky.com/story/the-co...

Did you know? 🐆 Jaguars, symbols of Mesoamerican biodiversity, are listed as Near Threatened on the IUCN Red List, with their population decreasing due to habitat loss, poaching & illegal trade.

On #InternationalJaguarDay, let's highlight their plight and the need to protect this iconic species.

Jonathon is proud of his potatoes; and rightly so, they are delicious but it is not an economical farm business opportunity. He gets around £100 profit from the supermarket chain for each crate of spuds. This is turned into around £5k profit by the chip chop.

Harper Adams University students investigating what is the problem with peat? These soils when exposed or tilled, dry and degraded emit a significant proportion of #GHG’s from #agriculture. Continued production from these soils is not possible due to the UK Government’s commitment to #carbon #NetZero 🙅 by 2030.

Travelling on peat is interesting! It is either bumpy or, when wet, not possible…continued land-use requires continuous water resource management.

South Africa is right to put debt, climate and inequality at the heart of G20 The host of the high-level meeting must not be swayed from its priorities, which are in line with the evidence from research.

This will be the first meeting of the G20 leaders to be held in Africa, and the first that a member state - the US - has declined to attend

A decisive day starting here at #COP30. Deeply grateful to all people close to the fire who stopped it quickly, and stayed focused. Also, that many countries, including mine, wrote this letter. And just sending all good hopes to those at the core of negotiations!!

Tawny Frogmouth (Podargus strigoides): 53cm (21in). This is a species of frogmouth native to the Australian mainland & Tasmania. It is a big-headed, stocky bird, often mistaken for an owl due to nocturnal habits & similar colouring. Fantastic image taken by David Ashley in Perth, Western Australia.
