Never forget what happened to India Walton, she was gonna be the mayor of Buffalo, and she was the Democratic nominee, but her opponent, Byron Brown, the DNC approved incumbent, ran as an independent after losing to her in the primary, and ended up defeating her in the general.

You've been warned!

ACQUIRING COLLECTIONS

We believe there are several missing episodes of Doctor Who and other important TV shows in collections in the UK. Charitable trust status and the ability to accept donations will enable Film is Fabulous! to access entire collections for cataloguing (1/2)

A Facebook comment from Film is Fabulous responding to user Justyn Adderly. Thanks. As mentioned by Sue Malden at our RECOVERED event in May, we are aware of several missing episodes of Doctor Who (Sue stared one or two, but there are more than this) in private film collections in the U.K. We are liaising with the individuals about cataloguing and preserving their entire collection, including this missing Doctor Who episodes, and ensuring that copies are returned to the BBC. We expect to make a detailed announcement shortly.

I genuinely cannot believe that Ezra Klein said we should run pro-life candidates in Kansas, Ohio, and Missouri; three states that recently held abortion referendums where the pro-choice side won!

Tommy Vietor quote-tweeting a video of a man following national guard troops in DC while playing Star Wars’ Imperial March and stating: “this is shitty and lame. These National guard guys don’t want to be in DC any more than DC residents want them there. They want to be home with their families. Annoy the people who decided to send them there in the first place.”

genuinely, who is the audience for pod save america? who does this handwringing appeal to? For guys who whine incessantly about “the groups” being ‘wokescolds’ Tommy seems pretty scoldy here! With progressives like these…jfc

It’s so gratifying that people are starting to see what a slimy weasel you are, something I’ve known since 2019 and ‘Medicare for all who want it’. May you never get anywhere close to the 2028 nomination.

My hottest Doctor Who take may be that under no circumstances should you try and make Doctor Who into a single coherent narrative and it’s extremely tedious when fans AND SHOWRUNNERS attempt it anyway

Coming to Star Trek with the idea it’s a ‘goofy sci-fi show where Shatner overacts and kisses green women’ rather than a show that tries to earnestly deal with social issues and weird sci-fi concepts with realism and humor in equal measure and sometimes it’s goofy and horny misses something critical

I’m generally in agreement that, like Doctor Who, Star Trek should be funny and silly (or more specifically shouldn’t be afraid to be silly) because *life* is funny and silly! But it starts to grate a little when it seems like the writers are embarrassed to be there and a parody is all we get

It’s not like there isn’t this fantastical invention called ‘utility-scale batteries’ that can time-shift solar power to before and after sunrise and sunset respectively and support that load

Or, if the production is going to keep getting complaints from actors on the shooting schedule, get an ensemble cast and rotate everyone out every few episodes a la Star Trek instead of 1-2 ‘Doctor lite’ episodes

This episode also solidifies my opinion that Doctor Who can’t make three companions work. Someone is always going to be on timeout. Up until this episode that was largely the Doctor but if he is going to be the main character now we have to go down to two companions max

I will say that it’s immediately obvious this is the Doctor Who story who’s model every one after will follow: Doctor as the main character righting wrongs and it was very gratifying to find Tate Wood and Lawrence Miles agree reading its About Time entry

I do love the Doctor actually gets to do some rare doctoring in making an antidote for Ian. For a character called the Doctor, they never seem to do anything medicine related or even first aid.

The humans caught in orbit and having their minds scrambled with repeated telepathically enforced sleep is horrifying but the horror tone gets quickly dropped. Potentially interesting Sensorite/Human politics gets hampered by a weak script and uninspired costumes limiting the actors
