This week is the Manchester School of Biological Sciences postdoc appreciation week. I have two PDRA, Rowan and Josh - both on fieldwork on the Isle of May hosted by @steelyseabirder.bsky.social at the moment - thank you both! @lydiabeckeriii.bsky.social

Some of us have come off the island for a break - one day later than planned as high winds meant no boats could sail. Before leaving we had a pub quiz in the Isle of May “bar”

Trap washing and repacking is a huge task. Without our team of volunteers it would be impossible to carry out the scale of our current project - here are two of our Manchester UG in action @lydiabeckeriii.bsky.social

The “squeak-stake” is a bit of fun we have on the island - aim is to guess the number of mice we trap each day. We have 3 Manchester UG with us this season and Rachel who has never been here before guessed EXACTLY the right number on day 1 @amypedersen.bsky.social @lydiabeckeriii.bsky.social

Before the start of our day we have a “scrum” so that everyone on the team knows what to expect from the day and tasks can be assigned and ticked off once complete @lydiabeckeriii.bsky.social
