Join Us for β€œNo Kings” Rallies & Canvassing for Proportional Representation Dear friends, As Californians debate Proposition 50, one thing is clear: our democracy is still trapped in the gerrymandering wars of a two-party system. Whether you’re voting yes, no, or are still un...

Politico is terrible. But Porter's behavior is very shitty here. Also tripping out on the people who are saying, "Who fucking cares? Trump is a rapist!" She's not Democratic nominee for anything. There are other choices and some probably have better judgement than to verbally abuse staff on camera.

I appreciate where Prop 50 is coming from, I personally will vote for it. But it really is NOT "proportional representation." If @cademocrats.bsky.social are really interested in #ProportionalRepresentation let's talk about how to do that! @prorepcoalition.bsky.social

CA governor candidate nearly walks out of interview. β€˜Don’t want all this on camera’ β€œI don’t want to have an unhappy experience,” Democrat Katie Porter told a CBS News reporter before the interview cut.

Yikes. I knew her answer to that 40 percent question was bad, but this whole clip is horrendous. What is Porter's problem?

Trump’s America is effectively abandoning California OPINION: β€œThe question of whether California’s future belongs inside or outside the United States remains a choice, but it is no longer a difficult one,” Joe Mathews writes.

Californians, stop talking about secession or independence. We're past that. Trump dumped us. We're already gone.

Hey there @sacbeeeditboard.bsky.social @sacbee.com Can you tell me why my comment on your editorial about Prop 50 violates your community standards? (Especially compared to some of the other comments on there?) If you really believe "We could fix this" why not listen to some other ideas?

Is fusion voting that good actually? It seems like it's just formalizing the kind of strategic voting we have to do now. I just worry about putting a lot of energy into fusion for not a lot of payoff.

"60 votes are needed" Nope. The filibuster is just a Senate rule. The majority can change rules when it suits their purposes. (As GOP did last month on nominees.) Republicans can pass whatever they want on their own, and deal with the consequences. They choose not to. They chose the shutdown.

Here it is: THE CATCH!

Every summer through fall, under a causeway near Sacramento, California, over a half million Mexican free-tailed bats roost.

At dusk they leave to feed on the nearby farm fields.

I've been going to watch them for over 3 years, and I finally got a solid capture on video. πŸͺΆ 🧡

The @nytimes.com and @natecohn.bsky.social shared their readers' ideas for how to stop gerrymandering. The most popular proposal? Proportional representation.

"Proportional representation would make gerrymandering irrelevant. But it would do a lot more than that." t.co/1nLM8D02E8

if we are going to have online magazines for Abundance, i think a wealthy patron should fund an online magazine for electoral reform β€” specifically for furthering the twin causes of proportional representation and democratic revival. seems like a comparatively neglected space
