Ha yes definitely fair! My long-term most philosophical take is that ethical rationality is a mirage and pretty much no one has a moral framework that makes any kind of consistent sense, and dealing with that is, like, the human condition.

I mean I'm sure *someone* could but I wouldn't! I think - and this isn't an attack, more of a much broader point I've been thinking about - that one of the pitfalls of internet discourse, esp on the left, is that we keep trying to find Rules That Work For Everything when that's not how it works

Fascism, in the short term at least, is cathartic, it gives identity and purpose. Fascism provides meaning, it sorts worries and hatreds into convenient boxes (woke, DEI), fascism is admin for the desperate and terrified soul. For a lot of people, it feels *good*. More people than many realise.

The kids aren't stupid. They either want to come to uni because they want to study. Or because they think it leads to a job. They also know it's going to cost them money AND time.

They want a uni brand/site to FEEL like a university. They expect it to be a bit old school. Not a game. Not a company.

And it even set the standard for the architecture of housing - the Lancaster and Winchester examples look like so many post-war 3-bed semi built by private developers across the UK. The Winchester one is the same as the house my mum lives in, built in the 1950s!
