I was approved for a loan on a property I was going to buy to turn into a dev retreat center with a central building and cottages but then I lost my full time job and could no longer get financing, sigh…

I’m thankful to have part time contract work at 30% of the hourly rate I once made. It’s the only thing keeping me alive right now.

I adapted from handwriting to typing to computer to word processing to desktop publishing to various and increasingly more sophisticated software packages, only to get replaced by AI at 55, not physically able to do many other jobs, and unable to afford retraining.

The thing is: if you were a writer in any industry before games, the market is now so flooded that they won’t consider you if your experience is too old or not in the specific industry the job is in. Any notion of transferable skills is now completely out the window.
