The article describes that they're already trying to do what you're asking for. Though I don't agree with saying people should be arrested for not identifying the caller. Not everyone in that building is going to know who made the call.

It's also from crates splitting into multiple smaller sub crates. That's done for build performance as well as putting features into dependencies that are only compiled if a feature is enabled.

My understanding was that branches are very expensive on the GPU, and that it's almost always faster to compute both branches with the equivalent of select (on any GPU, multiply by the bool and sum the branches). The arguments being opposite are really annoying.

It's also a nice learning experience to create a BSP for new boards that come out. Or for your own if you're looking to make your own boards. For writing drivers, the community very heavily favors docs.rs/embedded-hal...
