Daughter came downstairs tonight and asked about the show I was watching (Silo) which led to a half hour talk about the Cold War. Great night.

I was happy with how the initial exchange went, the return was unexpected and made my day.

Great tribunal of dads moment @xoofxos.bsky.social. Took Patrick early to Pokefest to get a free plush, I gave mine to a toddler whose family arrived too late. Kid’s dad nodded and shock my hand. As we were leaving an hour later, same dad gave Patrick a pack of cards. Great dad energy all around.

Achieved a lifelong dream a couple weeks ago and got a home run ball in a game. Justified not throwing it back since that is a Wrigley Field thing and the usher very kindly asked me not to.

I was fortunate to meet him once when he came to USMA in 2005 as part of a book tour. Regret that I didn't recognize the opportunity to ask him questions given the line was shockingly short.

My favorite President Carter moments are tied to the Camp David Accords. After difficulties in negotiations, Carter watched Star Wars with Anwar Sadat and the group undertook a staff ride to Gettysburg. Proof that History and SciFi can solve the most intractable problems. RIP.

I appreciate @thestrategybridge.bsky.social giving me the chance to write about the need for the military to do more to explain what we do and who we are to the American public.

Thanks to ABMC I got the chance to see The Great War and the Great Gatsby at Carnegie Hall last night. Very interesting and entertaining show incorporating history, literature and music. Had a lot of fun and am glad I got to see it in such a historic venue!

A key mistake Marvel's made is in trying to constantly one up the threat of previous movies. Stakes don't need to be existential to the galaxy, they need to matter to the characters. Plenty of great comics have featured stories where the outcome of the action matters only to the hero involved.

Due to TBS marathons I always associate November with James Bond movies. My son (9) wants to start watching them, curious as to opinions as to where to start him. I'm leaning Moore.
