If we want to include a Tom Clancy story, then The Hunt for Red October should be included over Clear and Present Danger. While the book is unquestionably fantastic, the screenplay made the plot more focused and Baldwin is still the best casting for Jack Ryan to date.

Oof, this is not a good list. Clear and Present Danger the book is miles and miles ahead of the crime of the screenplay.

Other better candidates for the list could be Fight Club and First Blood. Particularly First Blood for making John Rambo less of a murder and into a struggling vet with PTSD.
