To pay a sex worker or erotic creative for their work is to confess something like equality between you. Paying them implies you think they provide value, and if you think that, you have to respect them, at least a little. And if you're Sam Altman's target customer, you really fucking resent that.

Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing? 2?
