But in the committee meeting, a major new component was added to the legislation through an amendment, which Rep. Henry Stone, R-Forest City, categorized as related to β€œteacher and administrator led student protests.” The language, not yet available online, includes a provision stating a school board must extend the school calendar for a district by one day for each day that a student protest occurs at any attendance center in the school district.

Iowa Legislature - BillBook Information pertaining to the Iowa Legislature as well as the Executive and Judicial branch in as much as they relate to the legislative branch

"Good riddance."
"One less fascist."
"He deserved it."

Iowa's new Don't Be Mean to Charlie Kirk bill would strip teachers' licenses for saying any of those things "in any medium accessible to students."

They even try to exempt it from the First Amendment lmao www.legis.iowa.gov/legislation/...

β€˜I almost died trying to get an abortion in Iowa’—a mother of 4 speaks out This Iowa mother of four was heartbroken when her fetus received a fatal diagnosis. Then the pregnancy threatened her life, too.

Appreciate that Jess Djukanovic is speaking out about what she went through trying to get an abortion with a non-viable pregnancy in Iowa:

1/ ProPublica collected handwritten letters in mid-January from children held at the Dilley Immigration Processing Center, the same facility where 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos was taken.

Hundreds of kids are still detained.

We’ll let the children’s words speak for themselves. 🧡

Just a quick update from the Twin Cities. (Please forgive the unsolicited message). THINGS ARE NOT BETTER IN MINNEAPOLIS. The media is mostly moving on, Trump is focused on other stuff, BUT NOTHING HAS CHANGED ON THE GROUND. More than 2,000 DHS thugs continue to roam the streets, abducting people 24/7, assaulting legal observers with impunity, and routinely denying 1st, 4th, and 5th amendment rights. Drones and helicopters are overhead every day. Hundreds and hundreds of terrified families have not left their homes since mid-December ... relying on the community to bring them food and help with rent and other necessities. (Those people are NOT violent drug cartel sex offending murderers, as DHS would tell you. Most are legal residents or citizens.) If anything, things have just become more stressful and intractable (think trench warfare as a suitable metaphor): The resistance is better organized and numerous, but DHS has become more clever and better at disguise... and the county sheriff's office is increasingly supporting them . Do not let anyone tell you that Homans (the new person in charge of the occupation) is making anything better. Do not let anyone tell you that 700 ICE agents leaving the city has made much of a difference; the remaining force (again, ~2,000) is still larger than the entire city's police force (which is legally unable to do anything). Please call your congressional reps ... especially if there is any chance the administration might listen to them.

So much of ICE and CBP’s violence is just them doing the violence β€” no even pretense that they’re under threat or that force is justified. They’re using pepper spray and tear gas to express annoyance.

They want to to fire anyone, anywhere, at any time, for any reason. They want a docile workforce of teachers who will sheepishly teach their lies & slop. And they want a populace dumb enough to either not know the difference or not to care. All while they run their grifts in their little fiefdoms.

Virginia’s New Governor Ends ICE Program. Local Contracts Remain, For Now. - Bolts Abigail Spanberger left the 287(g) program, which empowered state law enforcement to detain immigrants. Will Democrats also bar local police and sheriffs from the program?

NEW: Abigail Spanberger this afternoon ordered that all state agencies leave ICE's 287(g) program.

This means that the state police (and some other agencies) will no longer be empowered to detain and arrest people for ICE.

Big, big move by the governor within weeks of coming into office.

Most of the footage you see from ICE observers in Minnesota comes from the core cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. I talked to observers in the northern suburbs, who say they're taking on the same mission in very different conditions. (1)
