You know how your car needs special maintenance when it reaches 100K miles? The US Constitution is like that. It needs special maintenance every 100 years or so as we figure out what's not working or wasn't clear enough. The pardon power is the most obvious candidate for some 250-year maintenance.

Yes, Trump’s pardons of Giuliani et al don’t affect state charges. That isn’t the point. He’s signaling to his allies that he has their back because he’s going to try rigging/overturning election results again. That’s what this morning means. That’s the news. The worst is yet to come.

Gutting and politicizing the FBI is a win-win for this administration. If we get attacked because we’re vulnerable, it’s just another opportunity to crack down on dissent and consolidate power.
