Below the horizon, carefully chosen ancestors mark pivotal moments in adaptation, each contributing to the form and survivor we see today. Above the horizon, Coyote stands alert at the center, framed by both Denver’s skyline and a mountain backdrop, symbols of their ability to thrive in cities as well as wilderness. Embedded in the ground are the skulls and bones of carnivores whose lineages ended long ago, emphasizing Coyote’s persistence in contrast.

This has been me the past few days

There is hatred all around me. But i wont let it win. I can fight for what I love, more than against what I hate.

May the right fire burn within me.

A four panel comic called Happy Halloween From The Birds. In panel 1, a pileated woodpecker has pecked its huge gaping rectangular holes in a pumpkin. The best way to let go of the fear of people judging and disliking you is to stop assuming that they are. You are unknowingly creating a mean version of them in your head that you're using to think mean thoughts about yourself.

I still believe that humanity can move past this. Just look how far we've come already.

It feels like we're losing ground, but equality has always been an uphill battle.

So, to anyone who reads this, neurodivergent or not; I see you.

That said, eye contact isn't my thing.

To know people despise you because of your own nature is a heavy burden. It doesn't have to be this way.

If there is a cure, it would be in the form of genuine empathy from society in general, as well as the desire to know what it means to be autistic, beyond the stereotypes and misinformation.

So much of the pain an autistic person faces comes from those around them. Social isolation, othering, well meaning professionals, lack of support, media stereotypes, pseudoscience, religion.. and much more.

I have lived through it, nearly every autistic person has. We all have horror stories.

4️⃣

You cannot cure autism.

You can traumatise someone hard enough that they mask for decades and eventually suffer a breakdown, but like every other 'unwanted' aspect officials have tried to erase with tools like conversion therapy and other tortures, it never sticks.

There is nothing to cure.

3️⃣

Autism is no more a disease than being born intersex or left handed.

It is a natural expression of VARIETY. No two people are the same, no one should be.

There are difficulties inherent to being autistic, but so very many of them are born of that push for sameness. Autistic people 'stick out'

2️⃣

Capitalism and the rise of sameness has nothing to gain from people that refuse to bend to the mold. People that ask questions, seem 'odd', who are more likely to be caring and empathetic.

So instead, in a world divorced of the old ways of community, autism is treated like a disease.

Autism has been a part of humanity for likely as long as there have been humans.

Human culture is not some great monolith, neurodivergence did not always mean the same thing, but there were often places meant for us.

There is great value in thinking differently, seeing differently.

you will thrive, you have no choice. everything will be okay, you cannot stop it. your dreams will come true, you cannot avoid them. you will succeed, it is inevitable. happiness will find you, you cannot escape it.

I really like ominous positivity. It’s the other side of optimistic nihilism.

one of the less-discussed harms of the housing affordability crisis is how it makes escaping from abusive living situations borderline impossible. i'm not even just talking about teens, i mean folks well into their 20s and 30s who came of age into an impossible job market and can't afford to leave

we exist in community. we do not need a homeowners association. we do not need to have the same house, the same porch ornaments. all I ask is that my garden is left alone, and that when I bake a batch of cookies for the neighbors, it's not called poison simply because (my) hands touched it.
