Pyocyanin produced by Pseudomonas aeruginosa is responsible for the elevated-efflux phenotype.

The overnight exposure to conditioned medium of Pseudomonas aeruginosa creates a longer lasting elevated-efflux phenotype, which is maintained in the absence of the conditioned medium.

We found that the past exposure to Pseudomonas aeruginosa conditioned medium promotes the evolution of antibiotic resistance in enterococci.
We tested both rifampicin and nalidixic acid.

We used a high-throughput mutation rate assay to determine the antibiotic resistance evolvability in the presence and absence of conditioned media.

Really pleased to share the first paper to come out of the lab.
We found that hospital patients were frequently colonised with P. aeruginosa and that the same clone was shared between the gut and the lung.
The phylogenies indicate that the clones moved from lung->gut
