Text reads: The truth is that sexual violence is endemic across society and far too often ignored by those in power. Public services for women, children, victims and survivors have been cut to the bone, and too many cases are left without justice. We believe in a society where all women are safe, supported, and free from abuse — regardless of their background or where they come from. Standing up for women’s rights means rejecting racism and division, and building unity to demand real action to end violence against women and girls.

Text reads: Blaming them distracts from tackling the deep-rooted causes of abuse and from holding those truly responsible to account. The far right have seized on these lies, spread misinformation, and mobilised protests outside hotels housing refugees—including women and children. This does nothing to make women safer.

Violence against women and girls is a serious and urgent issue. But it will never be solved by the likes of Nigel Farage and Robert Jenrick targeting refugees, Muslims and migrants. There is no evidence that people seeking refuge are more likely to commit acts of sexual violence. Many are themselves survivors of violence, war, and persecution.

Text reads: On Saturday 13th September, Tommy Robinson - a fascist who founded the EDL - managed to get 100,000 on a demonstration in London. The world’s richest man, Elon Musk, addressed the rally calling for people to “fight back or die”. This is an urgent wake up call for us all, including in Scotland which is not immune to racism or the growth of the far right. We have already seen protests in cities and towns across Scotland targeting refugees and migrants.

The campaign was launched by Stand up to Racism Scotland in collaboration with several organisations across Scotland in response to the far right’s exploitation of violence against women to fuel hate and division.

Former first minister Nicola Sturgeon and author Val McDermid have signed a letter which insists that the far right are not “defenders of women,” along with 200 other people

Women across the country stand united against the poison of the far right as, collectively, we see through their lies & faux concerns. Those who claim to care about women’s safety while spreading hate against migrants and refugees are not our allies.

After 5 hours, a ramp of 20 Nazis and racists were escorted away by the police as anti-racists exploded in celebration.

We can turn the tide but today is only the beginning. The next crucial step is to support refugees & local anti-racists at Cladhan hotel in Falkirk tomorrow 11am. See you there!

Palestine solidarity activists, trade unionists, LGBT+ campaigners and antifascists of all traditions came together in opposition with a single voice filling Buchanan St to chant, rally, sing and dance to the tunes provided by Cabaret Against the Hate Speech.

The mass counter demonstration showed the unity that is needed to beat back the far-right and build a mass movement for change in our communities, workplaces and across society.

Earlier in the week, the main organiser of the rally, John Watt, announced he wouldn't be participating in the rally after SUTR revealed he was in fact a perpetrator of domestic abuse.

In the company of fascists and violent racists was also Glasgow Reform councillor and Tory defector Thomas Kerr, who once claimed to live rent-free in the heads of Stand Up to Racism activists.

The far-right event was joined and had chants led by notorious fascist Max Dunbar, former member of the nazi BNP - who once kicked a pregnant woman at a demonstration. It was also joined by several activists in the racist campaign to harass refugees in Falkirk, including its leader Connor Graham.

As usual, the self-styled 'women rights warriors' on the far right side heckled throughout women's speeches and made vile threatening signs of sexual violence. They assaulted several women on our side.

The far right were confronted by a women's wall & women-led rally that by the 'women against the far-right' campaign. Speakers included women from the STUC and its women's and black workers' committees, as well as campaigners from Health Workers 4 Palestine and Abortion Rights Scotland.

There was no rally, & little evidence of unity as rival far-right activists exchanged punches. But at its peak, the far right mobilisation was still one of the biggest ones seen in Scotland & underlines the ongoing threat of the far right - even while their numbers quickly dwindled to less than 100

A week after the largest far-right demonstration in British history, anti-racists have shown there is a new mood for resistance. 2,000+ anti-racists rallied at Buchanan St to oppose the far-right 'unity rally' in Glasgow.
