The total normalisation of powerful older men having "affairs" with much younger women and the assumption that *she's* the one whose behaviour before or after MUST have been inappropriate

Public statement from WPATH: “New Zealand’s decision seems to be driven by political motivations and runs contrary to the Ministry of Health’s own evidence... WPATH requests the New Zealand government restore access to puberty blockers.”

Yeah that's a solid "nah" from me too. Fund schools better. Fund more teacher aides. Give EVERY kid an education plan which supports them to learn and thrive! This is an excuse to keep underfunding the public education system by segregating autistic kids and it sucks.

This. Targeting trans youth is a test of how far they can push. If the coalition is re-elected, expect more restrictions. Note which parties are speaking out now and making official statements - they’re the ones likely to resist further erosion, and should be voted for strongly when the times comes.

We need a wealth tax, not just to be able to fund infrastructure and public services, but also because very rich people are a threat to democracy. And I don't just mean billionaires, who should not exist at all.

Regarding this school lunches shitshow: are the food containers and delivery boxes not labelled in any way by Compass with date of production, date of delivery, time of heating, etc. Seems like that would be quite important in terms of verifying proper handling and delivery of hot food. #nzpol

Logical fallacies in the official response:
Ad hominem (frequent flyer doesn't negate any evidence of actual proof)
Appeal to probability ('More than likely' without providing proof)
Ad hoc rescue (9 boxes, rather than 8 - provided in confirmation of their story without evidence)

Worldwide mortality experience since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic (2020-2024) shows excess deaths over that period in almost every country measured. Australia (+6%) was below average, and New Zealand (+0.1%) the lowest we measured.

No more regional councils - major shake-up of local government announced The government says it is not a power grab, but about "making local government fit for purpose".

NZ has had two major reforms of subnational government so far: 1876 and 1989

As the guy who literally wrote a book on the demise of that first system, *and* as someone who generally supports more unitary authorities, my considered opinion is that this proposal is completely insane
