Gene Hackman single-handedly carries some of cinema’s greatest films but it is his turn in the often overlooked POSTCARDS FROM THE EDGE that comes to mind when I hear his name, such an assured yet tender presence in a film that so sharply understands the joys and burdens of the job. Heartbroken.
