The Trump administration is considering restricting entry to citizens of an additional 36 countries, in what would be a significant expansion of the travel ban announced early this month, according to a State Department memo.

All of the remaining No Kings demonstrations in Minnesota have been canceled as police hunt for the lawmaker assassin. The authorities have said they are concerned the attacker might be planning to target protests.

“We think it’s important to gather peacefully,” the group, @indivisible.org Twin Cities, said in a statement. “In the face of this horror, we will mourn and mark our determination for a peaceful, just, democratic future.”

Another state lawmaker and his wife were shot overnight, believed to be connected to the same suspect, police said.
