They whisked me away to the island. I was stuck there. They never arranged any modeling opportunities, I was completely conned."

It feels like a lot of people forget about that prison guard experiment that shows no matter who they are, most men given power over others in cells will blossom into assholes. That's why we need structure and laws and boundaries. ICE has none of that.

Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. It’s always a matter of will not resources.

You might think that the inhumane conditions at America's concentration camps is because of this administration's usual lazy incompetence, but, no, it's because of this administration's usual vicious cruelty.

The Covid inquiry reports are not being published until Summer 2027. What a complete joke. How many more will believe misinformation by then, have died from hospital infections or have long covid. It’s a travesty.

But when a parent asked when the celebration would begin, Oksana said, staff told them the holiday meal was for employees, not detainees. The children, she said, watched despondently as the feast was packed away.

On Thanksgiving, the immigrant children held at the Dilley detention center gathered in the gym for what they thought was a holiday feast.

The kids salivated over a spread of turkey, sandwiches, pastries and pies, a family told me.

But the food wasn’t for detainees — it was for the staff.

There are so many fucked up things with the current administration that it's hard to focus on one but this recent move is basically a death sentence for the planet. I've been involved with more boots on the ground actions over the years than I can count and this really bums me out.
