SB136 removes state protections and guarantees of salary increases (for cost-of-living) for teachers. It also gets rid of performance pay increases (and the incentive to perform better). The disrespect is loud.

It also then creates the conditions in which it would then be very easy for these same private interest groups to force public schools in “low-performing, low-attendance” areas to then become “job engine charter schools.” (Whatever THAT means).

In short SB140 strips the school boards of public school districts of the sole authority to create and maintain charter schools and gives that power to private interest groups.
