BBC One - Prayer and Reflection, Series 1, Kagyu Samye Ling Monastery, Eskdalemuir Traditional Tibetan Buddhist prayers from Kagyu Samye Ling Monastery, Scotland.

This temple is just up the road from where I grew up. I first remember it as a commune, farm & old farmhouse. It's a massive centre now, with retreat centre (that my dad helped to build), accommodation, huge Tibetan temple, peace gardens. Worth a visit.

I was in Bath today; Passenger has its fleecy grip on that city. But anyway, I was there with my 10yr old for Children's Literature Festival & discovered that the Phoenix comic has a Philosophy penguin! Grooming children into Philosophy!!

Manchester synagogue: Four people injured in car and stabbing attack at Manchester synagogue - suspect shot by police Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham says it's believed the suspect is dead, and that the immediate danger appears to be over.

I am alarmed and upset by this emerging news of attacks at a synagogue on Yom Kippur.

The rise in religious hate crimes in this country is totally unacceptable - there is no excuse for antisemitism and no excuse for violence.

Rachel wearing very flimsy looking apron, mask and visor in NHS setting

Here I am in 2020 in the flimsiest, most pitful PPE - like so many other NHS staff, some of whom died from the Covid they caught in their hospitals.

Tory peer Michelle Mone - who today lost her legal case & must repay the govt Β£122m - dares to claim she’s been β€˜scapegoated’.

What, Michelle? 🧡

The youngest human in the family, age 3, is unwell. In her unwell state, overhearing us saying she has a bug, she said "have I caught a bug mumma, like an ant?". I said no my love not that kind of bug, and she said "a ladybird?".

Safety Advice:

I keep seeing young trans people on social media talking about therapists disrespecting their pronouns and parents telling them that the therapist has a right to their beliefs.

I want to be clear: you have a right to the therapy room being a safe supportive space for YOUR growth.

For there is, in fact, a substantial body of anecdotal evidence that a small minority of migrants may indeed have been capturing, killing and eating swans from British rivers, ponds and lakes.

One of the most convincing episodes relates to an RSPCA investigation of a family that was suspected of stealing a swan from a local park in 2010.

Sky One’s Emergency Animal Rescue programme filmed the welfare officer visiting the Romanian family at their home, where she discovered the meat and bones of an unknown bird simmering in a cooking pot.

As the officer inspects the contents of the casserole pot, she says: β€˜You see the bones in this bird, because it’s not a chicken... I’m a bit concerned.’

The footage also shows the officer retrieving white feathers and a distinctly swan-like beak from a bin in the back garden.

The clip was recently reposted on social media by, among others, Turning Point UK, a British offshoot of the Right-wing American student pressure group run by the recently assassinated Charlie Kirk, where it has been viewed hundreds of thousands of times.

I watched Heretic, fun movie but so many tired sexist tropes in a film trying to be intellectual & cool. What can be more predictable than male violence against women, male coercive control & ego, the girl who has sex outside of marriage getting killed, the dull good girl with faith being saved.

If it's an unfunded hobby then what exactly is it they can't afford? As they aren't paying for it, as it's an unfunded hobby? I've never had funding or time off my teaching job. Writing, researching, reviewing, editing.... all an unfunded hobby in salvaged time carved out.

Strange how he doesn’t like to publicise that fact…

Green Party boss tears Keir Starmer apart over Peter Mandelson Epstein row New Green Party Boss Zack Polanski has said that Sir Keir Starmer defended Mandelson to protect his own career.

"Mr Polanski who has launched a podcast which has surged to fourth in the charts, said the scandal proved politics was rigged to reward failure."

I'll watch anything with Matt Damon in it because I love him. So I watched The Instigators. Fun movie. Familiar representations of masculinity as wounded, failed, infantile, pursuing redemption, with a mother & child used only as signifier/prop for man's redemption & heroics.

I have to read Frozen stories to my 3yr old & was thinking, if Elsa can make ice & snow why do people still have to go into the mountains & harvest ice? I'm not about deskilling but it would seem a sustainable & economic option? New industries like reindeer safari or ice sports could be developed?
