If parties want credit for telling hard truths, they need to tell them when they're genuinely hard.

If Labour had told the truth about taxes & the costs of Brexit before the election, its majority would be smaller.

But it would have more real power & the public would put more faith in its judgment

Interesting. I have often wondered how and when it all changed. And why it seems to get bigger every year.
And I speak as someone with a keen interest in history and the lessons thereof.

It is utterly astonishing how what was once unsaid is now the mainstream discourse. The past 10 years have seen racism come back and be normalised again. Utterly depressing.

My memory goes back to the 70’s but absolutely the same. The change to weeks of poppy wearing and performative remembering is tiresome and removes the true essence of it imho.
