I just finished 'Wearing the Lion' by @wiswell.bsky.social last night. Let me give you two observations.

1 I seldom had this much fun with the Greek myths.

2 This book is so full of love! It makes you want to go and hug your children.

Highly recommended!

Pop up bookmobile with mainly fantasy leaning on cozier side. with sofas inside to read. Looks like a meadow or the inside of a castle in the bookmobile. Kids books for $3 but often just given away so more kids can have fun and read

In the centre of this image is the beautiful British cover of Wooing the Witch Queen, by Stephanie Burgis. The illustration shows a man in a cloak riding headlong through the night towards an ominous castle with an illuminated, crowned female figure in its doorway and bats flying overhead in the moonlight. A potion vial surrounds that central image and is further framed by leaves and branches. Crows sit on the branches, and a tagline reads: Love can be a witch. A blurb from Sangu Mandanna reads: β€˜Warm and lovely’
Around the image, against a starry night background, are various pieces of text connected to it by arrows. They read: β€œbi villainous heroine,” β€œsweet cinnamon-roll hero with a fake identity,” β€œcrow friends,” β€œfound family,” and β€œflirting with fountains pens.” At the bottom of the image are the words: Only 99p this January!

For any readers in the UK (and much of mainland Europe): today is your very last chance to scoop up Wooing the Witch Queen in ebook for only 99p!

Phantom View - Reactor A disabled son care-taking for a disabled father tries to understand the mysterious blur haunting them.

If you are reading for awards, I would be touched if you would consider my novelette, "Phantom View." It's one of my most personal stories, about disabled people helping each other, whether they're alive or dead.

Wearing the Lion was the highlight of my summer book bingo last year, and Someone to Build a Nest In was one of most unique love (in many senses of the word) stories I’ve read. Please support a great author while he’s recovering!

For the Love of Cinnamon Rolls: Five Romantasy Books With Sweet Love Interests - Reactor There are anti-heroes and golden retrievers, stoic protectors and forbidden lovers. But we’re not here to talk about any of them...

Not ALL romantasy love interests are shadow daddies or brooding anti-heroes...

As Ruby Martinez (An Embroidery of Souls) points out, some of the best are just classic sweethearts:

We're still looking for someone in the Inland Empire area to adopt or foster this little tortoiseshell kitty. I'm willing to drive halfway to L.A. if anyone there wants to meet up to take her.

In the near future, a monster stalks the world's bedrooms. It has slain every other mattress and box spring it can find. Sofas are annihilated on sight. It reigns supreme.

Horny couples have no other choice. But the temptation is what gets you killed.

This Summer, there will be... ONLY ONE BED.

a lot of authors talk about wanting to write the representation that they didnt have in the fiction they read when they were a kid. and thats good. unfortunately, what i want is for everyone to experience the alienation i felt reading books as a kid.

woe. estrangement be upon ye.

I'm very slow with turning sketches to something actually goodβ€”especially people. But I do have some stuff I'm proud of.

I usually start with a hand drawn images, scan and then digitally paint. I have literally spent months before just trying to get a face right.

It is normal to feel scared in times like this, but if you are able to do so, get into community with people.

Other people help you keep in touch with hope, help you understand that you can and will make a difference.

β€œBe kind, be involved, believe in your art,” he said. β€œAt a time when people tell you art is not important, that is always the prelude to fascism. When they tell you it doesn’t matter, when they tell you a fucking app can do art you say, if it’s that important, why the fuck do they want it so bad? The answer is because they think they can debase everything that makes us a little better, a little more human. And that, in my book, and in my life, includes monsters.”

If you're in need of some pretty and enjoyable tv in short episodes, PBS Passport has many seasons of Rick Steves.

And you're supporting @pbs.org but in particular:

You can meet Hakan! He is in the episode about Stockholm.

He is quoting someone about why Stockholm's population started to grow:

Prefiguration. We have to imagine a better world before we can live in it.

Fascism relies on the foreclosure of the imagination, and the myth that it is invincible and inevitable.
