ahh thank you, I haven't read that Han Kang but it is sitting on my Kindle. Can never go wrong wtih LeGuin (and makes sense considering the book you've been writing!) You know I've never read the Dispossessed so maybe I should correct that πŸ€”

okay 2025 is nearly over and I'm stuck on what to read next: what's the BEST book you read in 2025 (not published in 2025)

for context mine is either This House of Grief by Helen Garner or Glorious Exploits by Ferdia Lennon

last time I got homophobic abuse on the tube it was from a woman so I dunno if this really solves anything tbh

Watching the Beast in Me and it stars a lesbian writer with a dog named a normal man’s name (Steve) v. relatable, I have not won a pulitzer however nor do I have a tragic backstory

(Dave for context)

To heal our divided nation I propose splitting Game of the Year awards into two categories:

- Game of the Year That’s 3D and You Use a Sword and/or Gun to Explode a Guy
- Game of the Year That’s Some Gay Bullshit Indie Meditation on Grief or Whatever

Stunned to be on this longlist in such incredible company! 🩷🩷

very light! it’s pretty easy over all, much more about exploring and crafting I would say. I didn’t die once

I retain the right to oscillate between the two

(without downloading new pics what’s it like dating you, or just knowing you tbh)

Winter Burrow was a very sweet survival sim - there’s a gentle story about community wrapped up in an easy, pretty straight forward crafting loop. At six hours it didn’t outstay its welcome and that mouse is so darn adorable. Loved that knitting was a central part of the crafting!

the scene where Eli berates his father and calls him a fool (right after Plainview humiliates him in the mud) feels key to the ways in which the men in this film strive only to put everyone else down to raise themselves up

rewatched There Will Be Blood , forgot how everyone is awful in that film (great film)

love having the morning off work - racing through this proof about an unusual court case in the UK that covers queer and online identities, truth and deception as well as some fascinating legal history. very happy to have a new scarf knit on the go as well 🧢❀️

best part of london: random chats with people drunk in soho, worst part: the tube is still rammed when you’re trying to get home

sometimes if I’m really hungry and we have no food in the house for breakfast I’ll eat a biscuit and feel like a 17th century sailor eating hardtack

the way they all deny what is happened and knowing that most of the people you are seeing will be dead soon, 100% horror

I'm rewatching Bones and the most unbelieveable bit of Season One is when her 'Publisher' sends her a car in the hope that she'll write another book 😭

I hope we all understand this is happening because the services are being made less social. Being social isn't profitable.

What's effectively happening here (in the British media at large, too) is the construction of "anti-racism" as somehow a "political alternative" to racism, rather than as a minimal civilisational standard, which in turn (further) vindicates racism as *also* an acceptable political position.
