On shared mental models: developers sandbag estimates when they do not understand what's being asked. A lot of product management effort is spent on managing those sandbagged estimates, rather than on creating the clarity that will obviate the need for them.

Demystify those abstracts

The harder you try, the better you are at it, the more exhausting it is and the less sympathy you get for that exhaustion 🤷‍♂️

I've had mostly successful book clubs and some failures. Failures were due to bad books, too many people, taking too long to complete. One successful spin-off was getting aspiring seniors to buddy with a junior and read a book with them

Although I enjoyed @einarwh.bsky.social's points, all is not lost for book clubs. IME: no more than 5 people or coordination is hard and so is discussion. One person allocated to lead discussion on a chapter each. If it takes a long time to complete, build in review. Read during work
