That’s a lot of energy.

Keep in mind that that is *extra* energy, on top of the normal amount of energy that needs to be dissipated. Yes, some will bleed of to space. Some will cause evaporation. A lot will go into intensifying storms.

On a human scale, 3 degrees Celsius isn't much. On an oceanic scale -- over the Gulf, if you consider the top three and a half meters (11 feet), that's about 66 Terajoules of energy. For context, a certain infamous b*mb used on Hiroshima released about 63 Terajoules of energy.

If you’re doing “research” and your opinion doesn’t change — even a little bit — it wasn’t really research.
