Advice to chief executives: pick up a book If Elon Musk is ‘uncultured’, a false opposition between literature and business may be to blame

Advice to chief executives: pick up a book—At a time when business leaders seem to be constantly firefighting with little time for a hinterland, there is an even stronger case for entrepreneurs and chief executives… www.ft.com/content/1369... @emmavj.bsky.social @financialtimes.com

Won't happen. But at some point a UK government is going to have to make a big decision to scrap the triple lock, and I suspect when they do it will prove to be far more popular than expected. Leadership rather than government by polling.

Life Will Move

Been listening to a lot of 70s African rock and it’s depressing how many band bios read something like “formed during the commodity boom in their hometown, they later fell out of favour after the US/Soviet backed coup brought a military dictatorship to power”

Bought a vintage fountain pen the other day because I liked the idea of it.

Then I opened a drawer and remembered I'd bought one 4 years ago which I'd never used, also because I liked the idea of it.

Relatedly, Google used to let you give a star rating to whole continents. Asia was a 4.5, I mean, who needs to know more?

No, the new one that's been taking ages. End of Upper Brox Rd.

The little Victorian one is part of the crap development on the same site.

Such a crap building (although better than the previously approved one). IIRC, the planners just waved it through.

The unfinished one behind it is better.

Stockpiling Claymore mines and barbed wire in the cellar to make Brockley Cross impassable. You can have Manor Ave, they've always thought they were a bit special.

How we do pensions and retirement income in this country is predicated on a few assumptions, one of which is that old people have minimal housing costs and/or security of tenure. It's not happening anymore, and will get worse.

CONFIRMED: the gold snot covering the Oval Office is $58-apiece onlays from Home Depot that have been spraypainted.

When Laura Ingraham confronted Trump about this in the Oval—specifically and correctly noting that the tacky garbage was from Home Depot—he lied to her face and insisted it wasn't.
