Zohran Mamdani’s campaign for NYC mayor has been inspiring. Here in LA, though, we’ve been facing a dismal choice in 2026 between failed Mayor Bass and someone to her right.

I wrote about No Kings Day in Los Angeles. What bothers me most about reflecting on police response to protests in LA is that the brutality begins to feel...expected. Like, "Oh, that's just LAPD." Frankly that's bullshit. Pretty tired of watching my neighbors get their shit kicked in by the cops.

In Japan, you’ll see moms riding bikes with up to 3 kids on them as well (on the same bike). Obviously, that would typically be an unsafe proposition in LA, but it doesn’t have to be.
