Darren Beattie, fired from the Trump White House in 2018 after it was revealed he attended a white supremacist conference, has just been appointed acting president of the U.S. Institute of Peace, according to the State Department.

Not sure many people believe AI to be a significant contributor to climate change but what I do know is that many articles - which are far from clickbait - do point to a future of GenAI, in particular, being energy and water intensive. The IEA - whose numbers you cite - also states this outright

Thank you, Maggie, for your advocacy on this. As one of the co-authors of the report that’s due to be released today, I need to emphasise there were multiple ‘experiments’, and not solely one. We are deliberate in calling this the ‘Tinker Experiments’ moving forward.

I'm calling for a full apology for the Tinker Experiment: state-sanctioned cruelty that forcibly removed children from Gypsy Traveller families & put others into accommodation with no water, electricity or heating.
The scars on & in the community are still visible today.
We must have justice.
