The films I’m most interested in thematically this year are probably Sinners, Bugonia, and OBAA, to varying extents and at times, despite certain shortcomings (particularly with regard to OBAA).

I like Bugonia overall, but at the same time I have mixed feelings about it. At least initially, I’m finding that the political ramifications are pretty problematic. Nihilistic, misanthropic, etcetera—it’s odd because Lanthimos does seem to believe in something in Real Life.
