An independent Alberta, if that foolish fever dream of a plan ever comes to be, based on the people, organizing it and pushing for it and influencing it?

Would be so corrupt, amoral and autocratic that it would make Mexico under the PRI (1928-2000) look transparent and democratic. #Ableg

I hope tomorrow itโ€™s a liberal majority and we can get on with getting some work done the next four years. Maybe take out the trash while weโ€™re at it.

Manโ€ฆ I remember Tony Blair and somehow this guy is now the most spineless Labour PM to ever exist.

And Blair abetted American lying to co-sign a war in Iraq.

So the conservatives claim for years, how horrible it was that Justin Trudeau turned politics into a fashion showโ€ฆ

And so now theyโ€™re turning politics into a fashion show? Also, yeah, my grandpa has that cut and he ainโ€™t no banker lol

09.04.2025 02:27 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 3    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Man this is how a PM used to sound back when I was younger. Okay fine so younger was the 1990s for me. But I have freaking missed this

04.04.2025 03:32 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

How far theyโ€™ve fallen from the days of Lloyd Robertson. Heโ€™d have burned the building down if they tried doing this on his watch

Hang onโ€ฆ youโ€™re 40??? Jesus. I thought maybe you were a year or two older than I was lol (I was born early 80s)

Happy bday though! ๐ŸŽ‚

Weโ€™ve got 30 more days of thisโ€ฆ I really hope that the liberals havenโ€™t peaked too early. I always worry about polling these days. But I kind of get the impression that people want bland and competent rather than shrill and shouty

28.03.2025 00:44 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Do you think itโ€™s possible the conservatives will turn their campaign around? Or are they just way too committed to whatever the heck it is theyโ€™re doing?

28.03.2025 00:34 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

All right. Letโ€™s get this election over with.

Thereโ€™s only one big thing to focus on because without that nothing else matters.

Who is going to be the best leader to distance us from a country we can no longer rely on? And whoโ€™s going to have our backs when the transition gets rough? #cdnpoli

This seems to be where people in that country to the south of us go wrong.

โ€œYou canโ€™t criticize Kamala ever!โ€
Which took on a life of its own and, it turns out there was a lot to criticize her for. Telling unions they needed to get in line? Ignoring wage concerns?

23.03.2025 20:26 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 2    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

LMAO that was so stupid. Calgary is a complicated place. Thereโ€™s more liberal support than she thinks.

And you have never said you were the evening news so you donโ€™t have to be impartial.

Itโ€™s also funny you mention this because I volunteered for them in a riding that we swept the city in in 2015 provincially. They spent a lot of time rallying their troops in friendlier areas but if one area was even the lightest shade of blue it was a no-go.

Likeโ€ฆ get into those blue areas!

19.03.2025 12:25 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 2    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

The latter. And when they do that you end up in the weird situation of a self proclaimed working class party boasting how it has the endorsement of a chamber of commerce that would eat the NDP for breakfast. As we saw in Alberta

19.03.2025 00:47 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 3    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Honest question. Why do you think theyโ€™re losing support?

For me, my patience is running thin with them because I feel like theyโ€™ve forgotten entirely where they came from just to chase power. They donโ€™t engage with people where the votes are.

19.03.2025 00:43 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 11    ๐Ÿ” 2    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 2    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Manโ€ฆ I never thought Iโ€™d miss the days when the biggest existential threat to Canada was Quebec sovereignty.

Ah so theyโ€™re back to this old playbook.

After 9/11, U.S. news became so obedient and jingoistic that I had to often get news about my neighbour to the south from the BBC. Because the BBC was relatively objective. #Trump

Jack brought a lot of former PCs like me into the NDP fold.

But I think he died before he could carve out what the hell to do with us. And in the absence of a place, we accidentally took the party over.

10.03.2025 18:17 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Yeah heโ€™s going to have to drop the wooden corporate act at least a bit. This line was excellent but it sounded like he was in a boardroom

10.03.2025 04:22 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

He reminds me a little of Joe Clark in how wooden and stiff his speaking is. He does project competence, but he needs to bring the personality up just a slight notch. On the other hand, we did have flashyโ€ฆ Maybe bland will work

10.03.2025 04:15 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Oh, donโ€™t worry Betty we still have oneโ€ฆ

Iโ€™m just hoping our new Prime Minister can give him a whooping

10.03.2025 04:11 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

And so we have a new Prime Minister. Carney kind of reminds me of Joe Clark as far as his speaking and tone, but I hope he can succeed where Joe Clark failed.

And heyโ€ฆ I did vote for Joe Clark once so letโ€™s bring on his Liberal doppelgรคnger. Weโ€™ve got a country to keep. #cdnpoli #lpc

Guess Iโ€™m buying ice cream again this weekendโ€ฆ.

Yeah, itโ€™s one of those things where itโ€™s likeโ€ฆ What the hell party did you think you were leading Jason? Everyone told you these guys have their dirty little paws all over the UCP and you just called it Twitter hysterics and denied it.

08.03.2025 00:54 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 3    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

If I were Carney and I won a majority? Iโ€™d do it. I might almost consider making him the Governor General. Iโ€™d probably just stick with the Senate appointment though. Should someone who was PM really suddenly become the viceregal?

08.03.2025 00:13 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 6    ๐Ÿ” 1    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 3    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

โ€œHow much cheese would you like on that pizza?โ€
โ€œAll of it.โ€

08.03.2025 00:11 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 4    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Oh, I would say just aim to really make some heads explode and make him the next Governor General, but I get why making a former Prime Minister the Governor General of Canada is probably not a good idea

07.03.2025 04:43 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 5    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Yeah theyโ€™ve lost that right

04.03.2025 22:49 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

There was a time when Canadian conservatives defended Canada against the whims of the U.S.

Sir John A Macdonald built an entire infrastructure to resist its influence, and we exist because he didnโ€™t want this block of land to be a state.

Got lots else wrong but he got that right.
