Gun control: states rights. Abortion; states rights. AI regulation: prohibit state rights. No coincidence Trump is gorging at the trough of crypto scams and crypto donors. #BananaRepublicans

@npr.org FirstUp Dec 13: Charges against Trump did NOt โ€œwind up being dismissed following the election.โ€ Trumpโ€™s control of the DOJ permitted him to direct that the charges be dismissed. Pure farce and corruption. Such soft pedaling and sloppy language is outright irresponsible. #WordsMatter

When will US forces seize a ship in violation of Russian oil sanctions? Trumpโ€™s blatant selective enforcement of the law both at home and abroad tear apart any legitimacy these laws might have and paint the US as shallow hypocrites.

@michaelcohen212.bsky.social Comey โ€œhas his hands all over the Russia Hoaxโ€? As Trumpโ€™s FBI director he informed Trump that the information was out there. And that Trump knew of, encouraged, benefitted from, and covered up Russiaโ€™s interference in the 2020 election has been repeatedly confirmed.

Hereโ€™s the thing: Trumpโ€™s simple answer to the Ukraine war is for Zalensky to sell out his people. Understandably, Trump cannot comprehend the resistance; Trump would sell-out his country in a snap and has repeatedly done so to date.

@davidpakman.bsky.social The talk of bond prices and yields may be more clearly explained analogizing to an apartment. Buy today and lease at $500/month. If rents later go down, the $500 lease is worth more; if rents go up, the $500 lease is a burden.

@davidpakman.bsky.social Re Ukraine & NATO โ€œroot causesโ€, Putin justified his war insisting Ukraine not a real country. NATO is a DEFENSIVE alliance and would frustrate Putinโ€™s warmongering. And the war prompted border-states Finland & Sweden to join NATO; Putin shrugged.

Under Biden and Obama the MAGATs shrieked hysterical the Feds were sending troops to Texas, grab your guns! As Trump sends troops to LA and DC, where are they now? #hypocrites #BananaRepublicans

Under Obama and Biden the MAGAssholes shrieked bloody murder the Fed were gonna send troops into Texas. The dumbasses bristled and waved their guns around. Now, Trump on absurd pretexts sends troops into LA and DC. Do the MAGAssholes have anything to say about it? No.

My point is the media is naive, which is a lot worse. The press constantly credits Trump with motives other than his own self-aggrandizement. He is not trying to do the right thing and is simply wrongheaded. His motives are purely self-interested and his actions must be seen through that lens.

@richardldn.bsky.social Trump cares nothing for โ€œUS economic interests.โ€ His flailing incoherent policies serve only his own interests. If he can be the center of power and attention, Trump cares not a whit about US fortunes. Crediting Trump with higher motives is a massive failing of the press.

Paul Krugman is both a serious economist and a plain-spoken one. He describes Trumpโ€™s policies as โ€œmalignant stupidityโ€ and his process as โ€œignorant whimโ€. Spot on. MAGA has inflicted a dangerous fool on the American republic. Let us hope the electorate deliver a resounding rebuke.

To summarize the Trump administrationโ€™s view of the law: The government can do anything to anyone at any time for any reason. Welcome to American fascism.

@11thhourmsnbc.bsky.social please reconsider using the word โ€œloyaltyโ€. What Trump demands is blind slavish unquestioning obedience to his whim-of-the-hour. The difference is vast. Sloppy use of language has led us to the brink of fascism. #WordsMatter

We have no insight into Trumpโ€™s mind, letโ€™s not pretend we do. Trump โ€œsaysโ€ many things; letโ€™s not pretend Trumpโ€™s motives are related to his empty thoughtless manipulative misleading words and focus, as Maddow does, on his actions.

@lastword.msnbc.com Use of phrases such as โ€œthe tariffs Trump was trying to use to protect the auto industryโ€ should be well considered. I see no evidence anything Trump does is intended to advance any interest of the public, and he should not be given the benefit of any doubt.

Tax the churches then for spreading GOP propaganda narratives for all time behind the fake guise of a cross

& as far as the IRS federal workers (+all fed workers), please understand that these poor people have nothing to do with this; itโ€™s the assholes Trump puts in charge causing the damage

Before the election, I warned that there is no safe haven under authoritarianism.

If they can ship Kilmar Abrego Garcia to a foreign prisonโ€”accused of no crime, with no trialโ€”they can do it to anyone.

Americans of conscience must stand against this now.

worth reiterating that in literally any other context a 10% tariff on Japan alone would be getting wall to wall financial news coverage, would be considered the largest trade war escalation in modern American history and the dumbest economic policy move by a President in decades

Samuel warned the Israelites that choosing a king would lead to conscription, heavy taxation, and the king taking their property and people, resulting in oppression and ultimately, the people's cries for help being ignored by God.
Here's a more detailed breakdown of Samuel's warnings:

Conscription and Forced Labor:
The king would take their sons and daughters to work for him, including as soldiers, charioteers, and in various menial tasks like cooking and baking.

Taxation and Seizure of Property:
The king would take a tenth of their grain, vineyards, flocks, and other possessions, and give them to his servants.

Loss of Freedom and Oppression:
The people would become the king's slaves, and their cries for help would be ignored by God because they had chosen a king instead of following God's guidance.

Rejection of God:
Samuel sought to communicate the true position of Saul as the new leader of Israel, but the people rejected Saul.
