YES! And I know I feel like I'm not comfortable using magical realism for a lot of books that get labeled that? I almost always default to speculative fiction as that encompasses it seems most of my favorite stuff but it doesn't seem to be apt either. TY for sharing in the hunt you're invaluable!

Funny, you should post this. I had a customer come in today looking for this and she was raving about the guy, never heard of him before.

I just don't know the right word because I know it's not speculative but idk maybe there isn't a word other than wonderful.

Also I have asked this before I think but what is a word to describe a book like---The Antidote (Karen Russell) where in store it's coded as fiction but like the general fiction reader won't pick it up bc its too weird and fantasy readers won't bc it's not fantasy enough and ugh sometimes

That CARE to get their students reading and pay attention to them and will work to find what interests their students to read.

Absolutely in my opinion you very much did. It resonated so much in exactly that way, and I know that some people would think the Laura Palmer thing like whatever but shew, if you were there you knew. I still think about how that era of the AIDS Crisis shaped me. the loss. The love. Ugh so good ty❣️

But also in fairness to everyone else, he does have more books out that we can get in store and I do have more copies because he was literally just in store the other day and others have sold down🤣
