In der Nutzung ist Dual Boot absolut praktikabel. Erst recht, wenn (wie im Fall von Spielen) keine Daten zw. Linux & Windows ausgetauscht werden müssen.

Dual Boot auf derselben Festplatte (= über Partitionen) ist nur schwer einzurichten und geht bei Windows-Updates oft kaputt. Mit 2 SSDs ist's easy

Mit einer zweiten SSD könntest du Linux und Windows ohne Konflikte nebeneinander installieren. Gebraucht ~15€. Wenn es ein Desktop-PC ist, ist auf dem Mainboard bestimmt noch ein Slot frei. Ansonsten ggf. in einem externen Gehäuse, über einen schnellen USB3-Anschluss verbunden.

One tip: install tldr. Use it like "tldr program" to get very nice and easy examples of the most important ways to use the given program on the command line. Would be nicer if you didn't need to, of course, but it gets you a long way.

Sehr viel leichter kannst du Linux und Windows übrigens nebeneinander betreiben, wenn du dir eine zweite SSD zulegst, damit jedes Betriebssystem seine eigene hat. Gebraucht ~15€. Da es ein Desktop-PC ist, dürfte da drin noch Platz dafür sein.

Office-Paket: LibreOffice ist quasi der Standard. An das Interface muss man sich gewöhnen, wenn man von MS Office kommt, aber es kann alles und man bekommt schnell Hilfe. Du kannst LibreOffice auch schon unter Windows Ausprobieren.

Software built just for Windows doesn't natively run on Linux. However, today a lot of software already offers a Linux built besides the Windows one. Including many games (e.g. Steam). The rest can often (+/-) be used via Wine, Proton or Bottles. Exceptions: e.g., specialized professional software

Anything using Mozilla's engine (e.g., Firefox, LibreWolf, Waterfox, Zen Browser) has the huge advantage of preventing Google from unilaterally defining web standards.

If you're a programmer switching to Linux is pretty straight forward, and after the learning curve the day-to-day of programming from Linux is way nicer than Windows.

Note though that dual boot can be rather difficult to set up and maintain. However, it's a piece of cake if you install each OS on its own physical drive.

Wenn du aber folgendes hast, solltest du vorher recherchieren:
– NVidia-Grafikkarte
– Drucker
– spezielle Software oder Spiele
– spezielle Hardware (z.B. professionelle Audioproduktion)

Perspektivisch, sobald der nächste Druckerkauf ansteht: Brother läuft generell am besten mit Linux (Linux Mint zB erkannte meinen ohne irgendeinen Klick). HP läuft auch gut, aber die Firma ist evil.

Mein Netzwerkdrucker (Brother) wurde davon z.B. ohne irgendeinen Klick erkannt und eingerichtet. Auch mit allen anderen Treibern und für Gaming sehr gut.

Nach Möglichkeit auch Microsoft Office (wechseln zu LibreOffice oder OnlyOffice) und schließlich auch Windows (wechseln zu Linux Mint).

The ecological argument to buy used is especially important, at least if you can find a device that fits your requirements well. But it's your choice, of course. :)

Personally I'd look at it in terms of who benefits. Then a used computer bought in Europe is actually more European, and less American, than any new one: With a new computer, at least half of the money or so goes to US companies for components and patent licenses. With a used one, zero money.
