Sustrans: if only there was some way we could make this shared cycle/foot path more dangerous
ORNC: hold my beer..

I’m declaring that a 1/48 mosquito mk IV bomber in 109 sqdrn colours is a perfectly valid build for #kitoff44 does anyone disagree?

I read the whole trilogy back to back. Generally I was impressed but the later books are a bit uneven in tone. The last bit of book 3 goes really epic scale after quite a long dull bit for instance.

What did you conclude? I just finished it

And it’s back, what an amazing performance by Norwegian railways

(2/2)
They phoned the train company, got the number of the train conductor and phoned him!
He has my bag and will hand it to me when the train comes back through Oslo at 10:20 tonight. Can you imagine any of that happening in London?

Amazing travel story: I just left my backpack on the train from Oslo airport to the city, I was too busy fretting about the children’s stuff. I went back to the station 20 minutes later and spoke to very helpful policeman who directed me to information. (1/2)

And where is this minor little cycle path you ask? Why it’s where National Cycleway 1 crosses The Commercial Road - good work SusTrans!

My favourite bit of the journey to college. It’s everything you want from a cycle crossing
1. Shared pedestrian/cycle space that’s only slightly wider than a set of handlebars - Tick
2. Multiple right-angle turns - Tick
3. Badly paved cycle path that spits you out into the oncoming traffic - Tick

I highly recommend this, very readable but packed full of detail on how local politics and Londoner’s shear bloody mindedness affected civil defence. #histbookchat

Pre Christmas visit to my parents has generated this treasure.
My grandfather’s diary from his time as a prisoner of war in Singapore and on the Burma railroad that nobody in the family had any idea existed. I just need to find a way to decipher the tiny spidery handwriting now

Well I tried Wars that Shaped the World but 13 minutes into ep 1 they are saying the MG42 is better than a Bren because it’s rate of fire is so much higher
That’s it, I’m out

Half arsed book review

An excellent book with 2 criticisms:
1. needs about 5x more maps as the detailed descriptions of allied advances did my head in
2. Octavo size in paperback is very hard to read in bed as it’s too floppy to hold with one hand (stop sniggering at the back)

We’ll me too as it turns out, my wife bought it for me as a joke
