They did a hockey game in Michigan Stadium right after we moved away from Ann Arbor and I was so pissed that I missed it.

Yep! The alley didn’t get plowed either, so there was the added bonus of all the accumulated snow getting tire tracks worn in it and then freezing over, meaning your car would just follow the grooves and start steering itself. It’s a miracle I never hit the building behind us.

I got the car fixed and then of course it immediately happened again because there was a crack in the steering column that they’d missed and all the fluid leaked out.

It happened to me when I was in college and living in some crappy old house where my parking was a tight spot next to the garage down a narrow icy alley, so it took pretty much all of my strength just to maneuver enough to park.

Oof… I had my power steering go out once in the middle of winter in Wisconsin, and that shit suuuuucked.

Back when my dad was the editor at the newspaper in La Crosse he wrote an op-ed calling Grothman racist after he tried to get the state to stop recognizing Kwanzaa.

Well, one did forcibly kiss a couple of students, so he was more fired for that. He had actually been charged with sexual harassment years earlier (there was a Chronicle of Higher Ed story and everything) and been acquitted, so yeah, our faith in the institution was already pretty low.

That was what my undergrad marching band used to be like before their last director revamped it. They went from around 60 members in 2003 to consistently between 300-400 by the time he retired a few years ago.

That might have legitimately been smaller than my high school’s marching band.
