I’m tired of pledging my support ahead of time to a party that persistently misrepresents me and lies to me. Yes I will end up voting for the over the nazis, but I’m not gonna go around advertising that it doesn’t matter who they put up.

I’ll choose not. The people who won’t are ridiculous. But this framing in stark terms before we’ve even had a primary is ridiculous. It’s alright if we have infighting that isn’t always dogged by this litmus test. I don’t want to be cornered into saying I’d hypothetically vote Newsom or whatever.

This is the smart guy talking point version of Trump’s β€œare we still talking about Jeffery Epstein?”

I wouldn’t call myself a defender of Hasan Piker, or even a fan, but having watched him some in recent times this feels like a caricature.

Is there anyone who hates being a Senator more than Fetterman? Crazy to have this job and walk around like you’re a put upon victim all day long.

13.02.2026 19:33 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Exactly. And you’d be amazed how often you get something like β€œI’m just looking for something lower key”, the assumption being that this job must be a piece of cake.

This stuff takes me back to the darker concerns of folks like Baudrillard: That we would become so immersed in spectacle that eventually the spectacles would start to precede the events themselves.

Seconded. The time is ripe. The tried and true advice about her not being ready, or needing to climb other rungs first is outdated if it was ever more than a glass ceiling tactic to begin with.

I have an MA, but I’ve also worked odd jobs and retail since I was 15, so I’m honestly sort of lucky to have an OK resume for both worlds.

As someone who hires for retail jobs: can confirm, but higher education is not total non-starter.

Not only that, if someone applies with a lot of retail experience and what you mostly have is higher education experience, guess who’s getting the job?

Nothing describes the soul of the Republican Party more than Pam Bondi citing the stock markets as her excuse for not going after pedophile billionaires.

Because as frustrating as it is the drivers behind culture and politics are not the same and power functions differently in each. Cultural power does necessarily translate to political, especially with entrenched conservative political organizations (I mean both DNC and RNC here).

I’ve maintained for many years the despite their apparent successes over the last decade or so, the right was badly losing the culture war. And that even their apparent successes stank of desperation. Not that this is a unique observation, I had doubts along the way, but these days I feel validated.

I'm convinced AI is our generation's radium - a discovery with genuinely useful applications in specific, controlled circumstances that we stupidly put in everything from kid's toys to toothpaste until we realised the harm far too late where future generations will ask if we were out of our minds.

The cracks in Trump’s armor are becoming more obvious. Republicans are attacking him for things they would have laughed off or pretended they didn’t see even a year ago.

β€œThe online left” functions for liberals the same way that β€œcultural Marxism” did for conservatives. A convenient excuse to plug in wherever your own philosophies fall short or outright fail.
