Because as frustrating as it is the drivers behind culture and politics are not the same and power functions differently in each. Cultural power does necessarily translate to political, especially with entrenched conservative political organizations (I mean both DNC and RNC here).

I’ve maintained for many years the despite their apparent successes over the last decade or so, the right was badly losing the culture war.
