Not the first one to say it but my God the new King of the Hill is absurdly good.

Also I do not care to think about how many guys IDENTICAL to Adult Bobby Hill I instantly folded for in my youth.

Yeah, outside of Spidey 1 & 2 there are few live action superhero movie fights I can think of that compare.

Cap vs Batroc in the Winter Soldier is one that comes to mind.

I forget how much of that movie involves Stryker mind controlling mutants - including his own son - to eradicate mutant kind - extremely dark stuff.

Yeah, I totally feel that criticism.

When she rapid-fire pokes him with her finger blades it's one of the most viscerally painful things - never leaves my memory.

Curse of Capistrano is still a VERY fun read - I read it and watched Mark of Zorro ('20) right afterward a couple years ago.

Super fun pulpy proto-superhero adventure. The secret identity hijinks especially age well since we don't get a lot of that anymore.

Thinking about this again.

There are very few fights in modern superhero movies that I don't zone out during. They're either totally weightless, tell no real story, or more often both.

Logan/Deathstrike has stakes, escalation/progression, strong beats that break things up, a satisfying conclusion.

This climax of this movie is a great lesson in how having your heroes occupy an interesting space (the dam) and giving them an intelligible goal (get out of the dam before it floods) makes things a lot more exciting and interesting.

I enjoyed The Franchise! I would've liked a season 2.

I want people who were never on set together standing in front of a Windows XP wallpaper and going "Hngggg" toward each other, sky laser in the background.

Man, I always think "this movie probably isn't as good as I remember it" before I start it, but no it's really that good.

It looks great, too.

Logan vs Deathstrike is still the greatest superhero movie fight of all time imo

Also Cox's Stryker is still one of my favorite performances in a superhero movie.

Rewatching X2 and feeling very normal about the parallels this movie draws between the US Government and the Nazis.

I had a different experience - I got quite emotional during the first episode.

Didn't hurt that I watched it with my Dad in the same room where we watched the pilot in '97.

But I get it - it's way less of a "throw it on whenever" episode.

I hadn't even realized that Hardwick recorded for the season until I saw the episode that ends with the "In Memorium."

You're right - neither sounds like Original Recipe Dale, but I think both do a good job. I loved the scene where Dale and Joseph run into each other doing a stakeout.
