"She could have had the lucrative career of performative activism she was being lined up for. But by shunning this path, she shows up so many liberals for the frauds they are. She also puts a spotlight on all the big climate scientists who’ve never once said genocide is bad for the environment."

UK's Labour Party Abandoned Trans People. Here's What American Dems Can Learn. Democrats: There is no β€œmiddle ground” on equal rights. Take it from UK Labour.

UK's Labour Party abandoned transgender people. The gambit to pursue rightwing voters by abandoning a targeted minority failed, and now they're facing the prospect of a historic loss.

US Dems could learn a lot from their failure.

Great piece from S. Baum.

Imagine being a non-White person in the UK.

Now imagine being constantly asked for your Digital ID, just because "We are checking."

It is going to be like that, it ALWAYS is.

This doesn't even touch on the plethora of examples of internalised and systemic racism that serves to uphold white supremacy in the education system. If we aren't working to actively address this, we are accepting it as inevitable or even acceptable.

Recently in consultation meetings I've met children who have been racially abused by other children. This has retraumatised their parents and is also retraumatising for me. Racism is a safeguarding issue as outlined in KCSIE. It should be treated as such.

Still taking in the @edpsy.bsky.social festival and the honour of interviewing Bernard Coard with Sathya. It felt like an energising way to end a day of listening to inspiring speakers and planning for a better future for children, families, and ourselves.

Disappointed in the new occupants at the DfE quite generally tbh and I'm not afraid to say it. Too much flattery goes on in the sector where people want to have influence and I don't think it's healthy for education. #EduSky

This thread is so spot on! Im seeing so much sycophantic behaviour that I feel like im reading different documents to everyone else? Visiting the Sanctuary building is far less important than what is best for children.

Just been reading the DfE's new writing framework and it seems to push even more for formalising the Reception year. Every time I speak to teachers on the ground they stress the need for active, playful approaches to learning in the early years and this is not that. #EduSky

Parenting a child with SEND as a psychologist means administering and scoring questionnaires by day, and answering them yourself in your downtime. It's very draining but has also made me think about how and why I use them in my practice.

A surprisingly high number of EPs pay little attention to accessibility when using social media. As advisors to settings on reasonable adjustments like assistive technology, we should be striving to educate ourselves on this.

Your picture might say a thousand words, but your alt text doesn’t have to to include blind and partially sighted people 🀯

It's really easy, simply click β€˜Alt’ on the image and type your description before hitting β€˜post’.

Most secondary schools also conduct reading assessments for students, so the confusion extends to secondary school screening, too. I need to watch the show, but am skeptical of Hancock thanking Oliver for his support for this campaign.

Seeing discourse about Jamie Oliver backing a national rollout of a dyslexia screener which Matt Hancock has undoubtedly invested in, and wondering why the Year 1 phonics check is not being used to identify struggling readers as intended?

Just had a governor meeting where a teacher attended to present data on the Y4 multiplication check dressed as a Teletubby. He'd promised this to his class as an incentive for doing well in the check. There aren't enough words for how important great teachers are!

1. The US Transgender Survey has finally been released, and the results are stunning.

- <1% of people are less satisfied after HRT.
- The most common reason for detransition, pausing transition, or stopping transition is transphobia.
