A Klingon 'cruiser' spaceship toy model from the movie Star Trek VI. The box shows a boxy body with two extended nacelles drooping off of each end. A long narrow neck connects the rest of the ship to the bridge, which resembles a sphere with a sombrero-shaped structure atop it.

The box for a toy model of the C-57D starcruiser, a classic silver UFO-shaped saucer, though this saucer has landing gear. The box shows the saucer on a desolate rocky plain on an alien planet.

Continuing my #thrifting adventures, one shop had a vanishingly small toy section but had some fun #models.

A boxed Star Trek Tricorder toy/replica from The Next Generation show. It's a gray plastic prop that unfolds to reveal buttons (or stickers that look like buttons) and a small screen. It features lights and sounds, according to the package.

Did some antiquing and #thrifting the last couple days. I picked up a #nerf Rival Kronos XVIII-500. I'm thinking of modding it into a Judge Dredd Lawgiver; we'll see.

At a very junky store I found a #startrek #tricorder from the 90's. The older green price tag seems cruel to leave on there! #toys

A Nerf toy revolver painted with copper and bronze for an antique metal look. Various heatsinks, knobs, and electronic components are glued to it along with a tube filled with green goo back above the grip. Its grip has a piece of trimmed leather attached. Some dirty smudges have been added here and there to make it look slightly weathered. The aesthetic is steampunk.

This #Nerf blaster was a commission. I tried for a hammered-copper look on the slide. The green tube is a hotel shampoo bottle filled with goo, and unscrews from the metal collar for easier transport. The grip is craft leather, glued on and wrapped in an ACE bandage until it dried. #toys #steampunk

One of my hobbies is window-shopping in #antique stores. It's more fun than shopping at a mall because you see more handmade stuff as well as, uh, poorly thought-out mass-produced stuff. And horrors! Don't forget horrors.

Just use the frosting recipe on your favorite chocolate cookie recipe instead.

The glass method of 'smashing' the cookies didn't work terribly well, but I did figure out you need to 'twist' the glass after the smooshing step to get a good release.

These also needed more than the stated baking time

So the batter was extremely thick and dense. I don't think there's enough liquid in this recipe, and the dry quality of the cookies confirmed this for me.

Oh, except just like earlier I forgot a step before baking: press the cookies one way with a fork, then perpendicular to the first press, to get a crosshatch pattern and flatten them out so they bake faster. Without flattening they were faaaar from being done at 10 mins.

I made the 3-ingredient peanut butter cookies Dylan Hollis made a vid about and I managed to burn them. 9_9

Step 1: combine 1 cup peanut butter w/ .5 cup sugar & 1 egg, mix until smooth.

Step 2: roll the batter into balls and place them on a cookie sheet

3 - bake, 350, 10 min

Why do I experience time dilation in the morning? A few minutes scrolling becomes 30 mins in a blink, but at work? Every minute crawls. I'm sure it's even worse for my cat, waiting to be fed.

I'm not a big fan of the 'glue gears to it' steampunk style, so if I ever try another version of this I'd want to put actual functional mechanisms on it instead, or at least greeblies that appear to contribute towards firing the thing. My 3D printer ought to help, instead of relying on random junk.

For anyone interested in materials/process, I used #Duplicolor #Metalcast #paint for the purple & probably vinyl dye for all the black parts (it dyes plastic instead of coating it so it can't chip or be scratched.)

I used masking tape to help me paint pieces multiple colors & a silver paint pen.

A toy Nerf blaster, originally blue, yellow and gray, painted a deep metallic purple with black and silver accents. It's a revolver with a six-shot chamber, a button used to swing the revolver out of its frame so it can be reloaded. A slide on the top at the back is used to cock it. It has a grip sized well for adult hands and a trigger with a full guard around it. The term 'maverick rev-6' is printed as part of the plastic in the frame below the cylinder and the raised lettering has been painted silver, as have all of the fake screws molded into the frame.

As my name suggests, I paint and modify #Nerf blasters, though not nearly as often these days. #purple #Maverick #toys This model, the Maverick Rev-6, was what got me into Nerf stuff again after largely leaving toys behind. It reminded me of #Hellboy and his Samaritan #revolver.
