Beyond helping establish DHS itself in 2003, Mr. Mitnick was a senate-confirmed Trump choice for General Counsel for DHS in his first term. I've talked with him a few times, and he's not a man for hyperbole. So bear that in mind when you see him calling out DHS's "lawlessness, fascism, and cruelty."

NYT: the Civil Rights division of the DOJ “is not expected to investigate the shooting of Alex Pretti in Minneapolis, according to two senior law enforcement officials… Todd Blanche, the No. 2 official in the department, made the same decision after Renee Good was killed.”

The National Guard in Minnesota will be wearing neon reflective vests so residents can distinguish them from federal agents from ICE/CBP, many of whom wear uniforms similar to members of the military.

Begs the question: why do these agencies’ agents wear military-like uniforms in the first place?

And he didn’t. He tried to help a woman who’d just been assaulted. There was nothing rash, stupid, or radical about what he did. He showed kindness. And they killed him for it.

In this drawing, a man chases another man with a knife in silhouette. To make a point about news media and narratives, the drawing shows a TV camera framing shows only a fraction of what is happening. In that frame the man being chased appears to be the one holding the knife and menacing — even though that’s not what’s actually happening.

The media shapes the narrative. It’s easy for propagandists/liars to spin it. Journalists must be guided by truth & accuracy & call out the lies

I normally don’t repost videos like this. But as we’re at a point where disinformation is rampant, it’s important for people to see what actually happened: an execution on a U.S. street by federal agents.

Just listened to @npr.org hourly news & I think it’s crucial for us in media to no longer lead with DHS’ account of what happened w/o mentioning this administration lies often, including recently altering a photo of someone arrested to change a facial expression & then saying yeah we did that

I don’t think we should be using words like “innocent” or “US citizen” or “bystander” or things like that because — what if someone was an undocumented immigrant with a criminal record? Would they deserve this? No one deserves to be executed on the street in cold blood.

5 years removed from when he helped barricade the House Chamber fearing for his life…he ONLY escaped because our actions (the officers). We risked our lives protecting him. He has no integrity, moral conviction or honor.
