Letter below is by surgical oncologist and professor Dr. Michael Baum about how a character explaining chaos theory in a Tom Stoppard play sparked an expansion in his understanding of breast cancer, leading to exploration of adjuvant therapy that protects distant organs.
This is what art can do.

The UK, where the day after a decision to take half a million children out of poverty, the media & political world has been full of sneering at those same children & their families, labelling them as โBenefits Streetโ, while the same people are moaning about a tax on ยฃ2m mansions. Shameful stuff.

Tice: "I have never met Nathan Gill, and he has never had anything to do with Reform"
Richard Tice
13 April 2021
Great to be with Nathan Gill, leader of REFORM UK Wales, campaigning today...
Fascist Reform leader Richard Tice would get REALLY upset if you shared this widely on all forms of social media so lots of people can keep it and bring it out before the next election to show that he is as big a liar as Keir Starmer.
So please don't, he would be *very* upset.

In 1582, a papal bull introduced the Gregorian calendar, still used today by most of the world. Because itโs 11 days ahead of the Julian calendar, countries introducing it simply skipped a third of October, and if you scroll back far enough in the iPhone calendar app you can see it change

Thank You Alice Wong
Alice Wong has passed away and the disability community has lost a leader. I lost a mentor and a friend. The Disabled Ginger wouldn't exist without Alice and everything she taught me.
โShe explained how much Covid could hurt her & how vulnerable it felt to be unable to wear a mask to protect herself.
She was a perfect example of why other people need to wear masks even if they donโt personally think Covid will hurt themโ
If you want to honour Alice Wongโs memory, please mask up

Diagram titled 'Possible causes of your problems'. On the left hand side, subtitled 'Yes': Funding removed from local councils, growing gap between rich and poor, multinational companies not paying their taxes, lack of new affordable housing, government not investing sufficiently in schools and healthcare. On the right hand side, subtitled 'No': Picture of small boat, with arrow; 'People fleeing horrific situations that you and I can't imagine'.
Possible causes of your problems. Itโs a diagram that (sadly) still seems relevant in 2025, so reposting a year and a bit on.

Peacehaven: Fire at East Sussex mosque probed as 'hate crime'
Video appears to show two people in balaclavas at the mosque before a large blaze spreads.
Men in balaclavas set fire to a mosque in East Sussex last night. It's only appearing on the BBC's local coverage, rather than its main national headlines, despite coming just a week after the (also under-reported) firebombing of an asylum hotel in London last week
