Some of the most dangerous and racist white people in this country have been the ones trying to tell you to abandon red states and turn against the most at risk in society all so they can maintain their power without doing anything to stop the actual systems of oppression they maintained and built.

I'm honestly scared shitless about everything happening in this country and I have no idea where it goes but I am heartened to see normal people standing up for each other and having each other's backs while our government and our party are allowing us to be overrun by fascism and siding with them

We should take it away from them, in my opinion.

On the same day, the Senate voted against their Constitutional authority and SCOTUS ruled against theirs. Incredible how quickly people are willing to give up their own power in favor of ideology.

I’m sharing a Palestinian account every day and today is Diyaa. Diyaa is 28 and before this he was a taxi driver and was engaged to be married to Israa. He has lost his taxi (which was his only source of income) and home and is now struggling to just get basic goods without being killed.

One of the best books I’ve ever read. I think about it almost daily. Aside from how illuminating it is, the analogy about inheriting an old house is one of the most effective tools I’ve ever encountered to combat the “I didn’t build the system so I shouldn’t have to fix it” bullshit.

Again, I’d like to encourage the people who think it’s a good idea to embrace a cruel and capricious dictatorship, while making it clear no legal or legislative authority can stop them from ruining ordinary people’s lives, to keep on reading to see what usually happens next.

The irony is, the more you capitulate with fascism thinking it will protect you, the more it does to put you at risk. Capitulation just momentarily slows the destruction it will never arrest fascist power or its destructive goals.

This is great! Had no idea this challenge existed lol

As an fyi, bsky has great ALT text feature for photos that’s a pretty big part of the culture here. So instead of adding each rule as a separate post, you can put it all in the ALT text so it’s all in one place and saves time.

Check out ‘Suspicious Minds’ by Rob Brotherton. Really informative look at why conspiracy theories are so prevalent and builds on the work of Hofstadter.

You can’t demoralize and publicly humiliate a team this badly then expect them to perform for you a few months later. We sent the message that hard work, teamwork and perseverance don’t matter—all that matters is money, politics and an injury to your star player. Message received, loud and clear.

Yeah, this is why I haven’t engaged with social media until recently. My self image was far too susceptible to this kinda shit. Gotten better as I’ve gotten older but I had to remove myself from trying to form community online because of how insidious it was, even early on.

See? It's not hard.

Facing Cuts Likely to Worsen Under Trump, Academic Librarians Urgently Organize As the war on higher education looks to heat up, academic libraries will likely be the first on the chopping block.

"Academic libraries make soft targets for administrators who too often look at the library and see only a cost center that can be replaced by free online sources and artificial intelligence."

I was wrong. @jessefarrar.com wrote our collective epitaph.

One cool thing about this is five years ago they tried to unionize and lost by 40 votes. This time they won their union 1033-28.
