Guarantor demands are cutting renters off from homes - Generation Rent Guarantor demands are a big barrier for private renters being able to find safe and secure homes, and the issue has only been getting worse.

Renters are increasingly being asked for guarantors, even when they can afford the rent.

The government must act! These demands can block or delay tenants from moving into a new home.

Demands for huge sums of rent in advance are extremely common - not a last resort, as landlord groups claim.

They prevent thousands of renters from securing homes. The government is right to cap them.

To get through the cost-of-living crisis, LGBTQ+ renters were:

1️⃣57%more likely than Cishet renters to report borrowing money from family and friends
2️⃣18% more likely to be using credit
3️⃣33% more likely to be working extra hours

Government must put homes at the centre of public health - Generation Rent Generation Rent have told the gov that they must acknowledge the link between homes and health if it is going to improve public health.

The government must recognise the crucial link between our homes and our health if they want to improve public health.
