arena 12: The Trenches
it's a Wizard War, and you've been drafted.
cower in your tunnels, run for your life. if the cannons don't get you, the barbed wire might.
it felt almost wrong not to make a level based on trench warfare, and i had fun with it.
arena 11: Shipment.mw2
a port of a fan favorite from Modern Warfare 2, with modifications to make it work in our little Class-PVP system, and to make it fit the rectangle.
Skelbton murdered me here.
arena 10: Cognitium Reactor
this would've been better in an arena twice as wide
it's another one fueled by memories of UT99, and i can't remember the name of the level that inspired it.
my first successful use of accelerators that don't risk fall damage is in this map
arena 9: the Old Town
i think i channelled some frustration into this one.
i've wanted to build a village with seamless rooftop parkour for a while and haven't been able to do it before.
with some skill, someone can get from one corner of the map to the other without ever touching the ground
arena 8: Twin Siege
i may change the name, idk.
henry tells me that this plays like a map from Half-Life: Deathmatch, and that's exacly what i was going for.
Ramiel helped me by mirroring as i built, saved a lot of work, it seemed asymmetrical to them until we finished, and it hurt them to do it๐ฅฒ

i totally copied this from Unreal Tournament.
a problem i ran into while making this was that all our teleporters in the modpack don't save properly with structure blocks. so, i had to improvise with more accelerators
arena 5: Frozen Fortress
there is no staying still here. between the ice and the accelerators on the floor, you're gonna slide around.
the ice used in the tower and the snow bricks come from @the-ice-lord.bsky.social 's Gelaria. a great dimension mod for those who crave the cold.
arena 4: Bones in the Ocean
i did NOT make this one!
this was the first arena made by someone other than me, they wanted an ocean/costal map and they went for it!
i don't know if the others are on blusky, i'm looking for them, but @wildmagicwhimsy.bsky.social was one of them!
arena 3:
i don't have a name, it's listed as "volcanic platformer" until i do.
in games like Quake and UT, i remember playing in levels that forced the player to use launch pads to get around. i wanted to try that out here. I used the accelerators from Cognitium to make it happen, albeit poorly.
arena 2: Desert Temple
inspired by memories of Unreal Tournament GOTY with my dad and our neighbors, makes use of vertical space with towers, arches, and tunnels
arena 1: forest clearing (the name could use some work but eh)
my first addition to the project. built before i learned the proper commands to get the structures to spawn.
features pungee pits, simple fortifications, and a bridge.
i was thinking of Chivalry 2 as i made it.
but the thing that really makes this build special is this: it changes. We've built twelve arenas into it using aa structure block, to be changed at the flip of a switch. a few were built without me, anything that doesn't have a "credits" sign is my build.

I've spent the last week doing almost nothing, rotting away in my room to build maps for an arena in a minecraft server.
Barely eating, barely moving, poorly hydrated...
And I've loved every moment of it
