Luckily it’s the last breath of a generational malaise. Dying pillow, etc.

Getting a lot of ignorant, racist and transphobic shit on the bird place. But also this. Which is cool

The reason why the Coalition Government need to dismantle Maori rights and the principles of the Treaty is because at each step Iwi stand in the way of corporatising New Zealand.

We get very poor value for money if we focus infrastructure spend on more motorways that encourage more spread out housing and urban development that will cost more over the long term and be a financial drag on councils, public agencies and residents for generations to come.
15.06.2024 00:36 — 👍 12 🔁 3 💬 1 📌 0Boris Johnson was turned away from his local polling station when trying to cast his vote in Thursday’s elections after forgetting to bring the required photo identity. The former prime minister was initially told by polling station staff he would not be allowed to vote in the police and crime commissioner election in South Oxfordshire without proving his identity. The misstep was embarrassing for Johnson because the requirement to bring photo ID is a stipulation of the Elections Act he introduced in 2022 while in Downing Street.

I think the words "highly contentious" and "lack of consultation" prior to select committee are telling!

It’s only irrational if your aim is to increase EV ownership. If your aim is to support legacy energy systems the move seems coherent.
Labour also decided to end the RUC exemption; but on the grounds that the CCD was a more effective subsidy.
Saw this exchange and for me it’s one of those SO CLOSE to getting it moments.
I mean, this human nature thing, is it perfect? Should we agree to some rules and stuff? Especially if it starts to hurt us bad in ways we don’t like? Shall we just let it rip and see what happens? I can’t decide.
This is absolutely excellent from Mihi Forbes and the team at Mata Reports … great journalism, have a watch #kikorangi #aotearoa

Not an expert but think the issue will be when low river flows prevent the reservoir(s) topping up. At that point it’s countdown to running out, especially as 45% of it will be lost to leaks.
So more distributed storage now, while reservoirs can still fill up from rivers, builds resilience.
My amazing partner turned out this actual book this year - a history of the Māori Affairs Select Committee Room, available at Unity Books and elsewhere
